Last night we went out to dinner. On the way home we stopped to fill up with gas because we noticed that the prices were increasing all over town. While Adam got out to pump gas, Simon and I sat and talked in the car.
He was saying "oooh! Chrissy lights!" and pointing at the gas station. Usually when Simon does this I can expect that he does in fact see them, but they are far away and would be overlooked by me. This time I couldn't see anything but the neon lights in the window advertising ice cream and beer and various items for sale.
I told Simon that they were called "neon lights." He tried a few times and said it mostly correctly. When Adam got back in the car we left, and Simon continued to talk about the neon lights, usually emphasizing the first syllable. "Neee-on lights" then became "neee-on Chrissy lights" which finally became "kneee-pad Chrissy lights," at which point Adam and I burst out laughing for the rest of the drive home.
